The Sri Lanka Telecom Training Centre, Kandy campus was established in 1983 initially offering short-term courses for SLT employees but later enrolling students from other companies as well as those contemplating a career in this sector. At the start it was recognised as the Telecom Training Centre, Peradeniya. It is located at the Galaha Junction, which is the main entry point to the University of Peradeniya in close proximity to the historic Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya and Kandy, the capital of the Central Province.
This centre has all required facilities including state-of-the-art laboratories, classrooms and computer labs/Online exam labs, and Administration office. The facilities include a Outside Plant Practical training bay and Optical fibre lab fully equipped with all required instruments and facilities to simulate a practical environment telecommunication systems and networks. The Optical Fibre Cabling Laboratory consists of all requirements for Optical Fibre Cabling training including splicing techniques and maintenance of optical fibre equipment.
